Diane Hill Takes Husband's Seat On Harper Board

Harper College trustees last week appointed Diane G. Hill to fill a vacant board of education seat previously held by her late husband, David K. Hill.

Diane Hill has been a member of the Harper College Educational Foundation Board since 2004, serving as the vice president for Programs for the foundation.

She also co-chaired the college's 40th Anniversary gala and served on the Foundation's Scholarship, Art and Resources for Excellence committees.

Hill is retired from Northwestern University in Evanston, where she served for 32 years as a senior lecturer, author and clinical supervisor in speech and language pathology.

"The Harper board is honored to welcome Diane Hill as a fellow trustee," said Laurie Stone, chairperson of the Harper College Board of Trustees. "Diane's distinguished career in higher education will bring an additional perspective to our deliberations. Her proven commitment to Harper College and the care she demonstrates for the community convinced us that she is the best possible choice to succeed her late husband and our dear friend, David Hill."

In addition to her work for Harper, Hill is chairperson of the Northwest Community Healthcare Foundation, a member of the Corporate Board of Northwest Community Hospital, the Advisory Board of WINGS (Women In Need Growing Stronger), the Building Bridges Committee for The Bridge and the Augustana College Board of Trustees in Rock Island.

She has also held numerous leadership positions for All Saints Lutheran Church in Palatine where she is an active member and has been an active volunteer for the Boy Scouts of America, local School Dist. 15 and High School School Dist. 211.

"Diane will fill her late husband's seat with distinction," said Harper College President Dr. Robert Breuder. "She is deeply committed to education as evidenced by her career choice. Her perspective will be most welcomed."

Hill's late husband David was former executive chairman of Kimball Hill Homes. He died of cancer on July 26 of this year. The seat will be up for election next April.

Hill is a resident of Inverness and has one son, a graduate of Fremd High School and Princeton University.
