None Hurt In Palatine Fire
No one was injured after a fire broke out Thursday, Aug. 14, in the 1100 block of South Brockway Street in Palatine.
At approximately 2:50 a.m., fire crews arrived and found a large fire isolated to a small single-family residence, which was unoccupied at the time of the blaze.
Crews also searched the house for any occupants and checked for fire extension, while conducting salvage, emergency medical, and rapid intervention operations.
The fire was controlled within 34 minutes of the fire department's arrival.
According to fire officials, there was significant fire, heat, and smoke damage throughout the house, which was left untenable.
The occupants of the residence, two adults and one child, were not home at the time of the fire. In addition, no firefighters were injured in the incident.
The Rolling Meadows Fire Dept. and Palatine Rural Fire Dept. assisted the Palatine Fire Dept.
Damage estimates are still being determined, and the fire remains under investigation by Palatine Fire Dept. investigators.
Fire officials said the severity of the damage caused by that fire can be contributed to no one being home at the time of the fire, which allowed the fire to spread for a significant time before being detected by a neighbor.
