Parlor Gives Up License
By RICHARD MAYER
JOURNAL & TOPICS REPORTER
Owners of an Arlington Heights massage parlor voluntarily gave up their business license last week after police apprehended six individuals in July at the salon due to alleged prostitution.
According to Village Manager Bill Dixon, Kil Sun Fara, owner of Singapore Salon, 308 E. Golf Rd., gave up the license shortly before a revocation hearing on Wednesday, Aug. 13.
"We had a strong case against them," said Dixon. "Right before the hearing began, the prosecutor in the case stepped up to the microphone and stated the proceedings were not necessary. They knew we had evidence and they didn't want to go through the public hearing."
On July 10, an appointment was made by an undercover officer for a massage to determine if in fact illegal activities were taking place. The undercover officer was brought into a back room of the establishment where he was solicited for a sexual act, according to police.
Police said, while in the establishment, the officer observed several other patrons in various stages of undress. After the arrest signal was given to other officers staged outside the premises, they entered the business and detained 12 people for investigation. All 12 were brought into the Arlington Heights Police Dept. and questioned about the activities on the premises.
After receiving statements from all those present, six people were released without charges, and six people were charged with various offenses.
In addition to the apprehensions, police said approximately $4,000 was seized from the alleged prostitution activities.
According to Dixon, the establishment had been closed due the license being suspended since the arrests on July 10.
Dixon said that business has been in existence for approximately 10 years. He said the most recent incident was the third offense.
"This violation however was the first under the current owner," Dixon said.
According to Dixon, Kil Sun Fara was the second owner of the business.
All six arrested are expected to appear in a Rolling Meadows courtroom on Tuesday, Sept. 2.
