Marching Knights Wash Cars To Benefit Trip

Prospect High School's Marching Knights need help.

Close to 200 band students, parents and volunteers will host an annual car wash fundraiser on Saturday, Aug. 16 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at numerous locations throughout Mt. Prospect and Arlington Heights to support their upcoming local competitions and shows.

Some of those events include: "Bands of America," competition in St. Louis, Mo., and a New Year's Day parade in London, England.

Students will offer free car washes but will be accepting donations. The band is hoping to surpass a previous record of 700 car washes. According to Chris Barnum, band director, the event will go on rain or shine.

"Last year it rained, but the kids stuck it out and they had fun and people still came by," said Barnum.

* Freidrich's Funeral Home, 320 W. Central Rd., Mt. Prospect

* Lincoln Jr. High School, 700 W. Lincoln St., Mt. Prospect

* Mt. Prospect Day Care, 406-408 E. Northwest Highway, Mt. Prospect

* Mt. Prospect Golf Club, 600 See-Gwun Ave., Mt. Prospect

* Prospect High School, 801 W. Kensington Rd., Mt. Prospect

* St. Emily Church, 1400 E. Central Rd., Mt. Prospect

* Midwest Bank, 50 N. Main St., Mt. Prospect

* Trinity United Methodist Church, 605 W. Golf Rd., Mt. Prospect

* Congregational United Church of Christ, 1001 W. Kirchoff Rd., Arlington Heights

* St. John United Church of Christ, 308 N. Evergreen Ave., Arlington Heights.
