Now You See 'Em, Now You Don't: BG's Beer Goggles Still Missing

The Buffalo Grove Police Dept. is still missing its "beer goggles" after they disappeared during last week's National Night Out Against Crime.

"There's no update," said Cmdr. Steve Husak on Tuesday, Aug. 12. "Nobody found them. We don't know if somebody took them deliberately."

The goggles, valued at $150 and used to show people how alcohol impairs a driver's vision, were at a display during the event at Willow Stream Park on Tuesday, Aug. 5.

"They have some value, our officers wanted to document it," Husak explained. Police hope that someone may have taken them accidentally and a parent would find them in a stroller or their car.

However, despite publishing reports about the goggles, Husak heard "not a word of anybody calling."

He commented on the irony of the loss.

"To have things taken during National Night Out..." he sighed. "But these things happen."
