Woman Talks Robbers Out Of Taking Purse
Two men robbed a woman in downtown Arlington Heights on Tuesday, Apr. 29, reportedly stealing a few hundred dollars, according to police.
Police said a woman who was leaving an eatery around 11:25 p.m. was walking to her car when two African-American males approached her.
"One of the men displayed a silver handgun," said Cmdr. Ken Galinski. "They demanded her purse but she talked them out of taking her purse and just took the money instead."
Galinski added that as the men were walking away, one turned around and demanded her cell phone as well.
Shortly after the incident, the woman drove to the police department to report what occurred.
According to police, one of the alleged offenders is described as 5'7", 185 pounds with braids and was wearing a green "puffy" coat. The other offender is described as 5'10", 200 pounds and wearing "baggy" clothes.
Galinski said police are currently working on a couple leads, but anyone with additional information should contact the police department.
No one was injured.
