Still No Sign Of Dog
Police still don't have any leads in the case of the missing dog that was stolen from a locked vehicle in Arlington Hts. last Thursday.
Police said between 11:20-11:50 p.m. Thursday, an unknown offender removed a four-year old Miniature Pincher female from a black four door Chevy Caprice that was locked in the 900 block of W. Dundee Road.
The dog is described as black in color with brown front paws-gray and white vertical stripes on its hind legs, a white spot on its chest with purple nails and a spiked black leather collar. The dog has no tags and is valued at $1,000.
Police said the vehicle was undamaged and no other property was taken.
Arlington Heights Police are asking for any information that will aid in returning the dog to its rightful owner. Anyone with information or questions should contact Investigator Andrew Blevins.
Police offered information to help anyone avoid becoming a car theft victim. The three elements of a "typical" vehicle burglary are:
* Vehicle parked outside and accessible;
* Items of value are left in plain view;
* An offender either breaks a window or opens an unlocked door and removes certain items.
Police said that citizens can control the first two elements. People should use a garage if available. Additionally, they should remove items of value from plain view including the brackets or docking stations. Other tips include closing windows and locking cars, parking the car in a well-lit area, document all serial numbers and/or engrave property and remember to call 911 immediately to report any suspicious people, cars, or activity.
