Tollway Crash Claims AH Man

An Arlington Hts. man died early Tuesday morning after the car he was driving in rear-ended a construction truck on Intersate 90 between the Des Plaines Oasis and I-294.

According to Illinois State Police, the accident occurred around 1 a.m. when Pawel Saszczuk, 26, of Arlington Hts., was driving eastbound on the tollway when he hit a truck that was stopped in a construction zone and was restriping the lanes.

"The Arlington Hts. man (Saszczuk) was pronounced dead at the scene," said Illinois State Police Tollway District Master Sgt. William Aukstolis.

Aukstolis said the other individuals involved suffered minor injuries. The crash remains under investigation.

Traffic was rerouted for approximately four hours after the crash.
