Palatine Plans Street Resurfacings

The Village of Palatine has compiled a list of 41 streets throughout the village that are scheduled to be resurfaced this spring and summer totaling $2.3 million.

However, if bids for the work come in higher than expected, some of the streets may have to be eliminated from this year's program, according to village officials.

Using both on-site visual inspections and computer projections, the Dept. of Public Works recommended earlier this year that 41 sections of streets should be resurfaced to keep them from deteriorating further and to extend their life an additional 12-15 years.

Village officials said some of the streets have had extensive watermain and sewer repairs done in the last year, and because of this work, need resurfacing.

The average time from start to finish on any one street, not including pavement markings and landscaping, is 40 days, village officials said. Improvements planned include the spot replacement of curb and gutter, adjustment of manholes and inlets, and asphalt overlay.

* Carriageway Circle from Medford Drive to Cul-De-Sac South

* Carriageway Court from Carriageway Lane to Cul-De-Sac West

* Clearwater Court from Edgewater Drive to Cul-De-Sac North

* Clyde Street from Wood Street to Dead End South

* Colfax Street from Plum Grove to Northwest Hwy.

* Country Lane from Reseda Pkwy, to Russet Way

* Cove Drive from Northwest Hwy. to Elm Street

* E. Daniels Road from Plum Grove Road to Oak Street

* Edgewater Court from Edgewater Drive to Cul-De-Sac North

* Elizabeth Court from Elizabeth Avenue to Cul-De-Sac West

* Elm Street from Gilbert Avenue to Dorset Avenue
