Heart Attack Claims Botterman

At age 44, Wheeling Township Democrat Committeeman and Harper Community College trustee Patrick Botterman died from an apparent heart attack Monday.

"We are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Patrick Botterman," said Harper President Dr. Robert L. Breuder. "Patrick was a gifted political consultant, an exceptional leader and a cherished member of the Harper College family."

"Patrick was a tireless advocate for making higher education affordable and accessible to the people of the northwest suburbs and played a major role in Harper's success and growth over the past 10 years," commented Breuder. "He will be greatly missed and our prayers and thoughts go out to his family and many friends and colleagues throughout Illinois."

Botterman's political resume was long and extensive dating back to 1996. In that year, he was the campaign manager for Illinois State Senator Terry Link. Two years later, he was the political director for John Schmidt, who ran for governor.
