Library Trustee Steps Down

Nine-year Arlington Hts. Library Board Trustee James Bertucci recently resigned to tend to family and business needs that have taken top priority in his life.

Bertucci, 48, and a resident of Arlington Hts. for the past 23 years, stepped down from the board effective Saturday, Mar. 1.

"I have had some issues recently regarding the health of some family members and my financial planning business has been growing recently, so I just thought it was time to step down," said Bertucci. "I also thought it was the right time to leave, because the library was in a good place due to the accomplishments of recently appointed Executive Director Paula Moore." Bertucci's term expires in April 2009, so the board is currently accepting applications from interested individuals to fill the vacant spot, according to Deb Whisler, director of public relations for the library. However, Whisler did not give a timeline on when someone will be appointed.

"I have not given the board any recommendations, but I am confident they will appoint the right person for the position," said Bertucci.

When asked if Bertucci will ever run for another elected seat in the future, he said "not anytime soon."
