Maine South Seniors Step Up

Maine South brought an impressive regular season to a close last weekend with a big win to celebrate the Hawk seniors.

Fourth year wrestlers were honored prior to Friday's meet and the team came through with a big 38-26 win over Chicago Public League champ Lane Tech.

South had eight wrestlers win, including Terry Calkins (103), Mike Williams (125), Dan Brewster (135), Cody Fallico (140), Joe Brewster (160), Ryan Clark (171), Dale Cornille (215) and Sean Sullivan (285).

"We wrestled inspired and ready and our seniors did an exceptionally good job," head coach Craig Fallico said.

On Saturday the Hawks took part in the traditional CSL crossover duals, beating Highland Park 40-27 but falling in a incredibly tight match to CSL-North champ Deerfield, 28-32.

Double winners were Fallico (140), Marjo Pajaj (145), Joe Brewster (160) and Sullivan (285). Other Hawks picking up wins included Williams (125), Jake Jablanovec (125), Juan Diaz (130), Dan Brewster (135), Brad Egan (152) and Cornille (171).

Maine South finishes the regular season at 16-6 (6-1) overall and as CSL-South champions for the fourth straight year.
