West Soccer Falls To GBN

* Maine West soccer fell to 1-2-1 in conference play with a 3-0 loss to Glenbrook North. The tough Spartan squad outscored the Warriors 2-0 in the first half and added an insurance goal in the second. Coach Aaron Fleming complimented freshman Kelly Cerri with a nice game at outside mid and Lauren Zourkas with aggressive play at center mid. Keeper Christina Chervenak racked up 12 saves for the Warriors, who are 4-9-2 overall.

* Prospect tennis earned a 7-0 sweep over Wheeling Monday, taking all seven matches in two sets.

Tom Kujawa (6-1,6-0), Sam Pope (6-0,6-0) and Matt Werderitch (6-2,6-1) were winners in singles while doubles teams of Zack Adamovic/Jon Kiefer (6-0,6-0), Kevin Baumhart/Martin Bartkus (6-2,6-1), Dave Aron/Tony Brogni (6-2,6-2), and Jon Grave/Mike Rusin (6-0,6-1) finished the sweep.
