Riverside Attorney Reyes Joins Triton College Board
Riverside resident Jay Reyes was appointed and sworn in as a Triton College trustee at a special meeting of the Triton College Board of Trustees held Tuesday, Jan. 26.
Reyes, a licensed attorney and founder of the Riverside Law Group, LLC in downtown Chicago, began his college education at Triton majoring in political science and serving as senator, treasurer and president on the Triton College Student Association. He will be the first Hispanic to serve as a trustee at the college.
In addition, he served on various student organizations including Model Illinois Government and the Latin American Student Association. Jay continued his education at the University of Illinois in Springfield focusing on political studies and international relations.
In 2004, Reyes received his Juris Doctor from The John Marshall Law School and he continues with his LLM in international business and trade law.
Jay has been a member of several community groups including the Triton College President's Community Advisory Committee, Riverside Township Lions Club, the Illinois League of United Latin American Citizens and the Triton College Foundation Board, to name a few.
Reyes will be seated at the next Regular Meeting of the Triton College Board of Trustees on Feb. 16, filling the vacancy of Merrill Becker, Triton's longest serving trustee who resigned in December 2009 after 22 years of service.
The Triton community college district serves Rosemont south of Devon Avenue.
