Rosemont To Renovate DePaul Dressing Room, Entry Corridor

The year-long interior improvement program at Rosemont's Allstate Arena is nearing an end with the recent decision to spend $59,798 to renovate the DePaul University basketball team dressing room and entry corridor.

Rosemont Village Board members approved the expenditure at their Jan. 13 meeting. According to Harry Pappas, executive director of the 19,000-seat stadium located on Mannheim Road between Touhy Avenue and Higgins Road, work consists primarily of adding woodwork and wall coverings in the dressing room area used by the basketball squad.

"We want to make it look nicer," said Pappas last week. "This is part of larger renovations we've been doing the last year to all backstage areas such as dressing rooms, locker rooms and press rooms."

Pappas called work done in the last year an "on-going evolution" of the arena over the last nine or 10 years. He said the DePaul dressing room work should just about conclude the year-long improvement program.

DePaul has been playing its home games at the Allstate Arena for the last 30 years having started when the stadium, originally named the Rosemont Horizon, opened in 1980.
