Stolen Valves Damage Fire Department System

These items are from the Rosemont Police Department incident reports. The Rosemont Journal publishes the police blotter every Wednesday.

FIRE DEPT. VALVES STOLEN

Five valves and two connection caps were taken from a Rosemont Fire Department system at two parking lots. The items were removed sometime between late December and Tuesday, Jan. 19. Removing the valves and caps rendered the fire department system inoperable, according to the police report.

RADAR DECTOR TAKEN

A 49-year-old Milton, Wis., man returned to his car on Jan. 20 to find the front passenger window broken and his radar detector stolen. The car was parked on the second level of a garage at 9441 Devon Ave. between 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 18 and 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 20. The radar detector was valued at $300.

BASEMENT WINDOW BROKEN

A landlord discovered the window to a basement apartment on the 10500 block of Touhy Ave. broken on Sunday, Jan. 17. A neighbor reported hearing the window break at 2:30 a.m. Jan. 17. The tenant told police he did not know the window was broken because he was sleeping at the time.

FIVE TRAINS VANDALIZED

Five CTA trains were discovered with fresh graffiti on Sunday, Jan. 17 at the maintenance yard, 5700 River Rd. The trains were vandalized between 10 p.m. on Jan. 16 and 8:20 a.m. the following morning, according to CTA staff.
