Slate Street Resurfacings
Four village streets located in the area south of Higgins Road and west of River Road behind the Rosemont shopping center will be resurfaced this summer.
Village board members today (Wednesday) were scheduled to approve a resolution authorizing the use of state Motor Fuel Tax funds to pay for the project. The estimated cost to repave Maple, Gage, Glenlake and Willow Creek drives is approximately $400,000, according to Mayor Brad Stephens.
Several apartment buildings are located in the area where the work will be done. Nearby is Dunne Park.
In another anticipated board action, trustees today are expected to approve the hiring of construction firm Degen & Rosato to serve as project managers for the building of an addition to the Rosemont Recreation Center, Touhy Avenue and Barry Street.
According to Mayor Stephens, Degen & Rosato will solicit construction proposals and submit a recommendation to the village concerning which company to hire to perform the work.
Plans call for the construction of a new multi-use addition to the building for basketball and volleyball use. In addition, public bathrooms will be built.
Stephens said construction could start this summer and be completed for use this winter.
