Village Buys Apartment Buildings

Rosemont will become the owner of two small apartment buildings possibly by the end of July.

Village trustees on June 10 approved the purchase of a  six-flat and a five-flat apartment buildings at 9457 Maple Dr. and 9466 Maple Dr. behind the Higgins Road shopping center. The sale price for each building is $600,000, according to Village Attorney Peter Rosenthal. The price was based on appraisals, he said.

While it's not yet determined what the village will use the buildings for, Rosenthal said one possibility is for village employee housing. Currently, the individual units are occupied with leases that extend into the summer. No tenants will be evicted, Rosenthal added.

The buildings are privately owned, said Rosenthal.
