Church Car Wash Raises Over $1,000 For Mission

Suds were flying last weekend as about 20 members of the Our Lady of Hope Church youth group raised over $1,000 washing cars to take a mission trip to a church camp for the disabled next month.

Members of the youth group and several adult chaperones will travel to Athelstane, Wisc., to build campground facilities and make improvements at Camp Daniel from Sunday, July 26 to Saturday, Aug. 1.

Camp Daniel serves youth and adults suffering from physical and mental disabilities in a safe environment on a one-to-one or two-to-one counselor to camper ratio.

In addition to providing fun for kids in a safe environment, the campground also provides a break for parents who must provide a high level of constant care and monitoring of their children.  The youth group, lead by church Deacon Jim Ernst, has been volunteering at the camp for over five years.
