West Leyden Wall Of Fame Dedicated

On Mar. 12, about 40 people, including local government officials, Leyden Wall of Fame alumni, Dist. 212 board members, administrators, faculty and community members attended a dedication ceremony and reception held in honor of the newly refurbished Alumni Wall of Fame located in The Eagle's Wing at West Leyden.

The relocation from a main hallway marks the final phase of a renovation that included refurbishing East Leyden's Wall of Fame and relocating it to the school's main entrance.

Several culinary arts students prepared and served appetizers at the reception and guests were treated to music performed by students in Leyden's music program.

Rosemont Mayor Brad Stephens, a 1981 grad of East Leyden, spurred the project when he noticed the quality of the wall of fame displays at other schools.

He contacted Rick Weigand, a 1973 grad of West Leyden, and Weigand took over as project manager.

The renovations were funded by private donations, including about $30,000 from the Village of Rosemont.
