'Stop Means Stop' Signs Will Remain
Rosemont spokesman Gary Mack said the village has no plans to remove small extra "stop" signs from the Scott Street Subdivision.
The Illinois Dept. of Transportation (IDOT) recently ordered the Village of Oak Lawn to remove similar small red octagonal signs on signposts under several traditional stop signs that read "Whoaaa," "Stop means you aren't moving," "and smell the roses."
Rosemont uses the same type of "stop" signs under their traditional stop signs in the subdivision that read, "Stop means stop."
Mack said that some of the signs in Oak Lawn intersected with IDOT controlled roads, whereas none of the Scott Street Subdivision streets do.
Rosemont Police spokesman Sgt. Keith Kania told the Journal the small signs in Rosemont are only located on streets in the subdivision and not on any other village streets.
