Park District Gears Up For Spring

The Rosemont Park Dist. has a full calendar of activities in the month of May at both Lange Park and the Rosemont Recreation Center.

The following events are taking place at Lange Park in the Scott Street subdivision.

On Thursday, May 1 water passes for the newly rehabbed park district pool go on sale. Resident passes cost $55, non-resident passes cost $80 and grandparent passes cost $45.

The gym will be closed from Friday, May 2 through Saturday, June 14 for Rosemont Elementary School graduation and end of year activities.

Registration for day camp will be held from Tuesday, May 13 through Saturday, May 17. The camp itself will be held Monday, June 16 through Friday, July 25.

The outdoor Splash Pad water feature will open on Thursday, May 24.

On Saturday, May 26 the park district will have abbreviated hours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and the pool will also be closed in observance of the Memorial Day holiday.

On Friday, May 30 the park district will present "Alvin and the Chipmunks" as part of its Food and Flick night at 6:30 p.m. admission is $4 for residents and $5 for non-residents.

The Des Plaines Bookmobile will visit Rosemont on the north side of Devon Avenue just west of Scott Street on Wednesday, May 14 and Wednesday, May 28 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Rosemont residents must obtain an out of district library card from the Des Plaines Public Library to use the Bookmobile.

The month of May will also see much activity at the Rosemont Recreation Center (RRC) on Barry Street on Rosemont's north side.

Several weekly ongoing classes at the RRC are still open for registration.

Women's aerobics classes are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.

Arts and crafts classes for children ages six through 11 is being held from 5 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.

ESL (English as a Second Language) classes are offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 8 p.m.

GED (General Education Degree) classes are held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. through 1 p.m.

On Saturdays from 4 to 5 p.m., RRC soccer players take on other communities in exhibition matches using the outdoor or new indoor soccer fields, depending on the weather.

RRC has held several matches competing with teams from Wheeling over the last few months.
