Services In Memory Of Late Stephens This Week

Family and friends of former Rosemont Mayor Don Stephens will gather at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church on two occasions this week to remember the community leader who died one year ago.

Stephens will be remembered at an 8:30 a.m. mass this Friday, Apr. 18, the one-year anniversary of his death. Two days later on Sunday, Apr. 20, another Sunday mass will be held. Brad Stephens, one of the late mayor's sons who is now mayor or Rosemont, anticipates that many people will attend the services.

Don Stephens passed away after a long struggle with stomach cancer. He had served as Rosemont's only mayor having been elected in 1956. Bradley was appointed last May to fill out the remainder of his father's term that will expire in May of 2008. He has said that he will run for the position next spring.

Our Lady of Hope is located in Rosemont on Higgins Road.
