Surprise, Surprise: Brad To Run For Mayor

By TODD WESSELL

Rosemont Mayor Brad Stephens late last week confirmed the obvious. He's running for election in the April election.

Stephens last May succeeded his father, Donald Stephens as mayor following the elder Stephens' death. Don Stephens had been Rosemont's only mayor since its founding in 1956.

"As long as my health is good and the people want me, I'll be a candidate," said Brad Stephens during an interview with the Journal last Friday. "I'll take nothing for granted. I'll walk the streets asking people for input and their thoughts on the issues." Stephens added that as long as he's mayor he will maintain an "open door policy." Approximately 800 to 1,000 voters usually turn out in Rosemont municipal elections.

No other candidate for mayor has stepped forward.
