Village Says Welcome Signs Will Change Soon

Has anyone noticed that Mayor Donald E. Stephens' name is still on the five entrance signs welcoming drivers to Rosemont?

According to village spokesman Gary Mack, trustees have talked about changing the signs to "Mayor Brad Stephens" since Donald E. Stephens passed away last year.

"We are looking into warm weather time to change it," said Mack. "However, it's not a huge priority, but we will get it as soon as it fits into the Village's schedule."

According to Director of Public Works Mike Raimondi, he is unsure what the cost will be at this time, because he hasn't determined what kind of work needs to be done.

Raimondi said the mayor's name will most likely be recasted.

Mack said the cost of this project won't be significant.

"We have to make sure it will look the very best possible, but also cost effective as well," said Mack. "Most municipalities or governments go through these changes every four to eight years. We haven't had to worry about removing a name off a sign in a very long time."

Raimondi said as soon as Mayor Brad Stephens signs off on the work, the project will begin.

Mack ensured the project will be completed sometime this year.
