Roadside Checkpoint Results In One DUI, 59 Other Citations

The Rosemont Police Dept. conducted a roadside safety of 581 cars last Saturday, resulting in two arrests, including one DUI and 59 citations.

Over the St. Patrick's Day weekend, police arrested four people for driving under the influence including the one at the checkpoint.

Police set up a checkpoint on the evening of Saturday, Mar. 15 on Higgins Road and Shafer Court near the tollway from 10 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. Sunday.

One arrest was for driving on a suspended license and the other for driving under the influence.

Of the four DUI arrests throughout the weekend, two were upgraded to felony DUI and one was found to have an outstanding felony warrant.

According to Rosemont Police spokesman Keith Kania, violations were issued for registration and equipment violations like headlights and not using seatbelts.
