Rec Center On Alert For New Fire Alarms
The Rosemont Recreation Center on Barry Street will have a fire alarm system installed by next month.
The center currently has no alarm system or sprinklers.
The new system will feature strobes, heat, carbon monoxide and smoke sensors but no sprinklers.
Park District Executive Director Karen Stephens said the contract to install the system was awarded to Omni Alarm Company at a cost of $10,000. Omni was the only bidder on the project.
The village owns the recreation center building and approved the purchase of the system.
Stephens said there are no plans that she is aware of to install sprinklers.
