Police Blotter
The following items are from Rosemont Police Dept. incident reports this week. The Police Blotter is published every Wednesday in the Rosemont Journal.
BATTERY AT SHOELESS JOE'S
A man allegedly pushed a Shoeless Joe's employee after he was asked to leave at closing time. The employee, a 57-year-old Downers Grove man, said he was attempting to clear out the bar, at 10290 Higgins Rd., at 3:59 a.m. May 5. The alleged offender reportedly initiated a verbal confrontation with the employee and refused to leave. When attempting to escort him out, the man reportedly became combative and pushed the employee in the chest with a closed fist. The employee reportedly pushed back in self defense and the offender ran out of the bar and fled the scene.
TIRE, RIMS REMOVED
Someone reportedly removed a tire and stole a wheel rim from a vehicle parked at the CTA Parking lot, 5701 River Rd. The 23-year-old Chicago man and car owner of a red 1993 Buick Lesabre said he left the vehicle at 5 a.m. May 5 and returned at 1:50 p.m. to find his front left tire missing. He found the actual rubber tire lodged under his vehicle, but the rim and three of five lug nuts for the assembly were missing. There was no obvious damage to the tire other than normal wear, according to police. There were no signs of forced entry to the vehicle.
DOMESTIC BATTERY AT HOTEL
A 42-year-old Iowa woman was reportedly hit in the face and kicked by her husband after he accused her of flirting at a Heaven & Hell Tour concert at Allstate Arena May 5. The woman, who refused to press charges, said her and her 41-year-old husband were at the concert and invited to a sky box to watch the concert. She said they became slightly intoxicated and were separated during the show. They met back up at the Marriott Residence Inn, 7101 Chestnut at 10:32 p.m. A security officer outside the hotel said he saw a white male punch the woman twice in the head with a closed fist. He said the woman then fell to the ground and the offender kicked her in the head. When the security guard yelled at the offender, he reported ran to the west wing of the hotel. Police formed a perimeter around the hotel and found the man allegedly hiding in a bush. When police made contact with the woman, she was reportedly bleeding from the nose. She was then transported to Resurrection Hospital.
BATTERY AT CONCERT
Raymond J. Wollack, 37, of 5410 Westshore Dr., McHenry, was charged with battery after allegedly threateningly grabbing an usher's arm at a Heaven & Hell concert May 5. The 18-year-old River Grove woman said he was blocking other patron's views of the stage and asked him twice to sit down at 11:01 p.m. After the second time, he reportedly jumped over a railing and grabbed her arm and told her something that she couldn't hear over the concert music. The woman then told security who then made contact with the man. Police said he was uncooperative and refused to leave the seating area. After refusing, police took him to the ground, handcuffed him and took him to a holding room. Police said the man was belligerent with personnel.
BATTERY AT PROTEST
Jayachand Pallekonda, 62, of 4110 Potter, Des Plaines, was charged with battery after he allegedly chocked a demonstrator with his hands outside the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, 9301 Bryn Mawr Ave. at 5:39 p.m. May 6.
POSSESSION OF CANNABIS CHARGE
Derrick L. Dunkel, 23, of 1000 Shiloh Blvd., Zion, was charged with alleged possession of cannabis after he and another man were reportedly fighting at Allstate Arena, 6920 Mannheim Rd., during a Chicago Rush arena football game at 10 p.m. When police searched the men after the fight, they reportedly found a plastic baggy of a green leafy substance that tested positive for cannabis.
RADAR DETECTOR, GPS STOLEN
Someone broke into a 2002 Honda CR-V parked at 9575 Higgins Road and stole a radar detector. The owner, a 21-year-old Elk Grove man, said he left his vehicle at 9 a.m. May 9 and returned at 1:30 p.m. to find his driver's side window shattered and his radar detector and global positing system missing.
GPS STOLEN
FROM VEHICLE
The passenger side window was broken out of a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee parked at 9700 Higgins Rd. at Orchard Point between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. May 9. The owner, a 50-year-old Barrington Hills woman, said her $1,000 global positing system was missing.
PARK LIGHT FIXTURES BROKEN
A Light fixture mounted on the maintenance room wall of the Rosemont Park District Slash Pad at Lange Park, 6140 Scott St., was reportedly pulled loose, according to police at 8:23 a.m. May 5. Glass on the fixture was also broken and the bulb was smashed, according to police. Police reportedly found two more lights broken. In addition to the lights, a drain pipe in the area had multiple heavy scratch marks in the paint and the men's room next to the drain pipe had several dents in the door. Police believe all the damage is related. Damage valued at $150.
