Bank Robbed Again

Police are unsure if the suspect who robbed the Devon Ave. TCF Bank this week (above) was the same man who robbed the bank 10 days earlier.

For the second time in 10 days, someone robbed the TCF Bank at 1 W. Devon Ave. in Park Ridge.

At 10:48 a.m. Mar. 15, a man described as a white male in his 30s or 40s approached the tellers, handed them a bag, and told them to put the money in the bag, according to Police Cmdr. Lou Jogmen. The offender took the bag of money and fled on foot, police said.

Jogmen said the bag of money contained a global positioning device, but the suspect must have located it because when police tracked the device, they found it but not the suspect.

The suspect was further described as standing between 5-feet, 11-inches and 6-feet, 4-inches tall and weighing between 180 and 220 pounds. He was wearing a green hooded jacket or sweatshirt, a baseball cap, sunglasses, and work gloves.

The same bank was robbed at about 3:15 p.m. Mar. 5. In that instance, a man came into the bank, approached the tellers, and made verbal threats while demanding money. He did not display or infer a weapon. The teller gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of cash and he fled on foot south on Canfield then east on Talcott Road.

He was described as a white man in his early 50s. He is between 5-feet, 8-inches and 6-feet tall. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing an Abercrombie baseball hat, a green jacket, and sunglasses.

Jogmen said police are not sure if it is the same suspect in both robberies. Investigators were still waiting for video surveillance footage of the incident on Monday afternoon.
