Cabbies Offer Police Extra Sets Of Eyes

Park Ridge Police Chief Frank Kaminski announced the formation of "Mobile Eyes," a neighborhood watch on wheels.

Kaminski is working with drivers of Park Ridge Taxi to be additional sets of eyes for the police department. He hopes to enlist other businesses with employees out in the community.

The drivers will receive training on how and when to report incidents to police. In addition, if police are looking for a particular vehicle or suspect, the businesses will receive that information to relay to its drivers to help police locate their target.

The vehicles participating in the program will be marked with bumper stickers to help send a message to criminals that there are additional people watching out for them that will report suspicious activity. Businesses interested in joining the program can contact Officer Benjamin Peterson at 847-318-5233.
