Quick Exit From Uptown

Less than a year after opening, Uncle Dan's Pizza and Pub, 27 S. Northwest Highway, in Park Ridge has closed its doors.

"They ceased operations the end of December," confirmed Kim Uhlig, director of economic development for Park Ridge. "We were sorry to see them go."

The business was the first liquor-license holding establishment to get a live entertainment license. It was the site of Mayor Dave Schmidt's victory party on Apr. 7, 2009, participated in the Taste of Park Ridge over the summer, and hosted a night of The First Annual Edison Park Comedy Festival in October.

In December, the business sported a sign in the windows stating it was closed for the holidays. It never reopened.

"With all new restaurants, the first two years are critical," Uhlig said. She said she has met with the owners of the property and she will continue to work with them to market the location.

"We're working on a couple of leads," she added.
