Battery Charged In Two High School Fights

Two high school students were charged with battery in separate recent incidents in Park Ridge.

A 16-year-old Park Ridge boy was taken into custody at Maine South High School at 12:36 p.m. Nov. 4. He was allegedly involved in an altercation with a 15-year-old boy in a locker room regarding a dollar one owed the other, police said. During the pushing match, the older boy allegedly swung a lock at the other boy, striking him in the head.

The other incident resulted in a charge against a 14-year-old Des Plaines boy. At 7:15 a.m. Nov. 2, he was in a group that encountered another group at Maine East High School. Each group allegedly screamed and threw gang signs at each other, police said. The 14-year-old then allegedly punched one boy in the face and another in the shoulder. The victims were aged 15 and 16, police said. A teacher broke up the altercation and the suspect was taken into custody in the 1100 block of Gregory Street in Des Plaines at 10:49 a.m. Nov. 4.
