Lange To Stay At Park District For Now
By DWIGHT ESAU Journal & Topics Reporter
Last March, Jim Lange announced his retirement as Park Ridge Park District director as of June 2.
He has, however, agreed to stay on an additional few months during the period the park board will seek out and hire his replacement.
"This way, the board will make the transition as smooth as possible for both park district residents and our staff," said Kathie Hahn, spokesperson.
The board's personnel committee, consisting of commissioners Mary Ryan and Marty Maloney, is serving as a search committee. It is working with an executive search team at the Illinois Association of Park Districts (IAPD) to seek out candidates. Finalists will be identified later this summer and will meet with the personnel committee, which will recommend "the best individual for the position."
"The personnel committee may begin interviews, but the full board will probably get involved in interviewing the most serious finalists," said Hahn.
O'Brien said this process will take at least 3-4 months to complete. "We appreciate Jim saying on to help us through this transition period," he said.
Lange is completing 39 years of service in two area park districts - Park Ridge and Highland Park. He has been associated with Park Ridge 20 of those years.
