Salvation Army Kettle Recovered With Cash

A Salvation Army kettle was recovered about three hours after it was taken from in front of a Park Ridge Starbucks.

At about 5:20 p.m. on Dec. 6, someone took the kettle and stand from in front of the coffee shop at 100 S. Northwest Highway when the bell ringer stepped away. "The guy went to get a cup of hot coffee," explained Police Commander Dave Keller. When he returned, the stand and kettle were gone.

Police recovered the kettle at 8:45 p.m. in the first block of South Prospect Avenue.

The lock on the kettle was intact and it still contained $300, Keller said.
