New Look For Prospect Ave., Too
While Park Ridge's massive Uptown redevelopment project is underway across the street, several South Prospect Avenue storefronts are being renovated to recreate the original architectural style from about 100 years ago.
Long considered the cornerstone of the Uptown shopping district, the south Prospect block, between Northwest Highway and Summit Avenue, will soon feature a new appearance that merchants believe will attract more customers.
The corner of Prospect and Summit is home to many businesses looking forward to this face lift, including Pine's Menswear, Re/Max Properties Northwest, Subway, Around the World Gifts, Fanny May and Countrywide Home Loans.
The building that houses Pine's and Re/Max Properties Northwest is undergoing a dramatic change. Building manager Terri Tillinghast said their structure was the first approved by Park Ridge's new facade improvement program.
The program provides monetary assistance to property owners to improve their buildings in an effort to entice more shoppers to Park Ridge.
Dave Iglow of Pine's Menswear said the improvement was like an "interview suit" many of his customers come in for.
"While I would agree that clothes should not define the individual, I also contend that one never gets a second chance to make a first impression," said Iglow.
