Public Hearing On Uptown

By DWIGHT ESAU

PRC Partners and the City of Park Ridge want to tell residents more about Uptown redevelopment.

So, a public information meeting on the subject is scheduled for next Thursday, Aug. 24. It is set for 8 a.m. in the city council chambers in city hall. A total of 150 retailers and business representatives in the Uptown area have been sent invitations to attend.

City staff members and representatives of PRC Partners, will discuss construction timetables and resident access, along with retail tenants coming into the redevelopment, parking, and traffic signals, and streetscaping.

City officials used this occasion to also remind residents that all Uptown businesses are staying open during the construction activity in the area.

Drawings will be on display that illustrate the design of the new sidewalks, pedestrian crossings, and streetlights along Northwest Highway and at six corners.

Most of the 24 townhomes and rowhouses on the western end of the redevelopment have been completed and occupied, and the first commercial building in the project, which will contain a gourmet grocery store and other shops along with condos, will be completed this fall.

Work now is underway on an underground parking garage in phase III of the project, on land formerly occupied by the city's water reservoir. This garage will serve residents of the new condos being built in the redevelopment, as well as shoppers and businesses.
