Flood Fix?

Park Ridge officials hope to find solutions, and money to fund them, for flooding problems that have recently plagued the city. "I'm going to be meeting with Congressman (Jan) Schakowsky," Mayor Dave Schmidt said at the council meeting on Monday, June 29. "We'll see if she can open up the purse strings a little bit and send some of the money that we keep sending to Washington back to Park Ridge."

With 3.6 inches of rain reported on Friday, June 19, Park Ridge again saw isolated flooding. "I think overall we fared pretty well," said City Engineer Sarah Mitchell. "It could rain up to nine inches and we'd fare better than that," she added, referring to the storm of September 2008 that dumped 9.95 inches on the city. "There were less reported backups and flooding calls than I expected."
