Tibbits Defends Self, Submits Water Report
Prospect Hts. City Treasurer Richard Tibbits, who also serves as the city’s water committee chairperson, defended himself and a recent water survey at the Aug. 23 city council meeting.

Woman Reverses Vehicle, Flips Over On Frontage
A 77-year-old Prospect Hts. woman was not issued any citations after her vehicle struck a light pole and ended up on its side on top of a guardrail around 9 a.m. Wednesday.

City Fine Tunes Referendum Wording
Prospect Hts. aldermen met during a special city council meeting Friday to change wording on a referendum seeking voter approval to borrow $15 million for road repairs and other maintenance issues.
Ald. Richard Hamen (1st) at Monday’s city council meeting proposed an amendment to Prospect Hts. fire code to allow residents of multi-family homes to grill food on their balconies and porches. However, the rest of the council disagreed with his proposed changes.

Council Won’t Quench Area’s Thirst For Lake Water
The Prospect Hts. City Council will not provide financial support to residents on the west side of the city at this time who wish to set up a Special Service Area (SSA) in order to build a Lake Michigan water main.
Referendum To Seek $15 Million
The Prospect Hts. City Council approved wording for a new referendum to be placed on the Nov. 2 election ballot.
Dist. 23’s Tentative Budget Shows $685,000 Deficit
Of the $4.4 million remaining in reserves, Mathis said the estimated $685,000 deficit will be taken out of the reserve fund to balance the budget.

A Cook County judge rejected a developer’s claim of breach of contract against the City of Prospect Hts. after finding the developer had an undisclosed financial relationship, according to a statement released yesterday (Tuesday). Prospect Development, LLC sought $20 million from Prospect Hts. relating to a failed project for the construction of a sports arena.
Alderman’s Stalking Suit Dismissed
Prospect Hts. alderman and state representative candidate Richard Hamen’s recently filed restraining order against one of his former neighbors was dismissed by a Cook County judge for unknown reasons.
Vole Paid $110 For City Code Violation
Prospect Hts. Mayor Dolly Vole was recently reprimanded by the Cook County state’s attorney for her use of a campaign banner on a city vehicle in the local July 4th parade.

Residents Can Connect To Water Mains For Fee
The Prospect Hts. City Council voted unanimously at the July 12 council meeting to approve an ordinance that amends the city’s water connection fee to allow residencies near Special Service Areas (SSA) to connect to water mains.
Wheeling Road Work To Begin Next Spring

The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago has closed on land at Wheeling’s Heritage Park moving an improvement project one step closer to reality. It’s a project that could have a dramatic effect on Des Plaines, Mt. Prospect and Prospect Hts. residents who live nears the Des Plaines River.

Police Dept. Marks Two Decades July 6
Happy birthday to the Prospect Hts. Police Dept. On Tuesday, July 6, the police department will celebrate 20 years of service after it took over operations from Cook County.
The Prospect Hts. City Council approved the business plan for a new location for Edith’s Place, a current Mt. Prospect restaurant that will be moving to 1326 N. Rand Rd.

Fire That Claimed 3-Year-Old Appears Accidental
The Prospect Hts. Fire Protection District said Wednesday, June 16, the preliminary investigation from a fire that occurred last Saturday claiming the life of a 3-year-old-boy appears to be accidental in nature.

Searching For Clues In Fatal Prospect Hts. Fire
The cause of an early Saturday fire in Prospect Hts. that claimed the life of a 3-year-old boy remains under investigation and may not be determined for a couple weeks, according to Fire Chief Donald Gould.
Prospect Hts. School Dist. 23 board members have decided a decision will be made on whether or not the district will reconfigure to grade level centers (GLCs), as early as the 2011-12 school year, by January at the latest.
