Driver Charged With DUI Following Crash
The following items are from Prospect Hts. Police Dept. incident reports. The Journal publishes this police blotter every week.
DUI CHARGED
Mariusz Maka, 29, of 5520 S. New England in Chicago, was charged with aggravated DUI, DUI-BAC over .08, no driver's license, no insurance and failure to yield on Jan. 17. He was arrested after a traffic crash near Camp McDonald and Elmhurst roads, according to police. Two witnesses allegedly told police Maka was at fault in the two-car accident. Police said Maka smelled of alcohol, had bloodshot eyes, slurred his speech and had urinated himself. He was taken into custody and brought to the Prospect Hts. Police Station.
BURGLARY REPORTED
Ski equipment was stolen from a garage at 1326 Cove Dr. around 3 a.m. Jan. 22. The complainant said he heard the garage open around the stated time but believed it was the neighbor, who shares the garage. The neighbor later said he did not use the garage.
THEFT REPORTED
A 2002 Dodge Intrepid was stolen from 870 E. Old Willow Rd. between 11:30 a.m. and 12 p.m. Jan. 13. The complainant's son saw a blue Ford F-150 tow the vehicle. He believed it was being fixed. No local towing companies towed the car however, according to police.
DAMAGE TO PROPERTY
The rear hatch and passenger door were scratched on a 2006 GM Envoy XL at 2855 N. Milwaukee Ave. on Jan. 17.
