Spinal Injury Benefit Run Returns
Prospect Hts. officials once again threw their support behind the 2nd Annual Backbones 5K Run, Walk ‘N Roll.
The event was held for the first time ever last year along Schoenbeck Rd., using Country Gardens and Castle Park.
Backbones is a not-for-profit agency that provides services for those with spinal cord injuries and their families. Backbones founder Reveca Torres, who has been paralyzed from the chest down since age 13, and 5K chairwoman Patricia Mikicic attended last Monday's Prospect Hts. meeting to ask for the city's approval once again.
Officials thanked the two for putting on such an event and offered their full support.
About 250 showed up for the run last year and organizers are hoping for even more in 2010.
This year's race is scheduled for Sunday, Apr. 25.
Nearby residents will receive notice of the race later this spring.
Those interested in participating can register online at www.backbonesonline.com.
