Police Blotter
The following items are from Prospect Hts. Police Dept. incident reports. The Journal publishes this police blotter every week.
ATTEMPTED ARSON
Police and an attentive homebuyer may have stopped an arson case at 108 Parkway. According to police, the property had been foreclosed on and a man interested in buying was given access to the home. Between June 1 and June 23 he noticed several suspicious issues at the house. The interior had been destroyed, all copper tubing stolen and all fixtures (sinks, toilets, etc.) ripped out of the ground. He later found holes punched in all the walls and ceiling, believe to be for fire to get air. Finally he found a 55-gallon drum of flammable thinner in the garage. Smaller five and three gallon jugs of the thinner were found in the bedrooms, all covered with wood and debris. He contacted police and fire officials, who arranged for the flammable liquids to be removed.
BURGLARY REPORTED
A vinyl window and numerous power tools were stolen from a vacant apartment at 791 Piper Lane between 10 p.m. June 16 and 7 p.m. June 17. The property owner had been making repairs to the unit. The front door was forced open and the frame was damaged.
