Company To Collect Fines For City
Prospect Hts. will enter into an agreement with Tele-Collection Systems, Inc., to help track down city fines. Aldermen unanimously approved the deal on Monday and officials hope the company will make the city money in the long run.
Mayor Dolly Vole explained that because of the city's short staff, many tickets or fines have gone unpaid to the city.
"A lot of people didn't pay because we didn't have a collection department," she said.
The hope is that Tele-Collection will be able to track down those who don't pay and help increase revenue to the city. The company will be responsible for collecting all fines, including parking tickets, right light violations and city code fines.
As part of the deal, Tele-Collection will get 30% of any fine over $100 and 35% of fines between $25 and $99.99.
Vole said there are still a few details to be worked out in the agreement but she hopes the company can begin working for the city by July 1.
