Milwaukee Ave. Vacancy To Be Filled By Eatery

There will be a new bar and grill in Prospect Hts. soon as Sportsman's Lodge will open at 1250 S. Milwaukee Ave., a site that has been vacant for over a year.

The lodge will take the place of Golden Chopsticks, which vacated the property about 12 to 13 months ago, according to Building Director Steve Skiber.

Sportsman's Lodge Owner Charles Frontczak recently met with the Prospect Hts. City Council to go over his plan. He explained that the facility would be split into an area geared more toward outdoor activities and another for regular sports games. It would feature carry-out pizza and a full menu for dining in, as well as a bar section to watch games.

Frontczak mentioned that he has previous experience in the restaurant and bar industry as he also runs Diamond Café in Glenview.

Aldermen were generally pleased with the plans and are happy to see the vacant land put to use. The Council approved a liquor license for the establishment, although aldermen agreed on a 3 a.m. license rather than the 4 a.m. license requested by owners.

Mayor Dolly Vole said she was more comfortable with the 3 a.m. license despite the owner's concerns about competing with nearby bars and restaurants.
