Letter To Our Editor

Just Helping 'Naysayers' With Article

Editor, Journal:

Your piece "4 Shut Out of PH Mayors Breakfast" was typical of the very poor journalism you spew, big headlines with no substance after you made the mistake.

Your paper was the only one to print another distorted piece about who was invited to the Mayor's Breakfast. You apparently took the invitation to the press too seriously.

This breakfast is held to give recognition to residents who have contributed their talents to the advancement of the city and honor the Dollars for Scholars scholarship recipients. It is not a clandestine opportunity for elected officials to violate the open meetings act as the "boogie man" suggested. This type of comment from him only illustrates his inability to serve in public office or as "Road Kill Warden".

The Open Meetings Act clearly illustrates the difference between "meetings" and "social events". As editor you must surely recognize there is an element in Prospect Heights that relish in the recognition you bestow upon them with reporting like this.

What you probably didn't hear about was another resident who has contributed little or nothing constructive to our city and requested a table for ten. She was immediately told that was impossible so she was there without her mob. I have served our city for five years and I am tiring of the "naysayers", both elected and citizens who constantly berate any attempt at progress in our city and you fertilize their efforts with articles like this.
