Police Blotter

The following items are from Prospect Heights Police Dept. incident reports. The Journal publishes this police blotter every week.

ATTEMPTED ROBBERY

A man reported to police that he was walking home near Dennys on Milwaukee Avenue, when a man approached him with a baseball bat, saying, "give me your wallet" and "don't make me use this." The man continued toward the suspect, who then fled.

DRUG

CHARGE

Brent Newbern, 21, of 409 Cresthill in Prospect Heights, was charged with possession of a controlled substance around 2:50 a.m. May 10. He was arrested at 650 N. Milwaukee Avenue. Officers allegedly saw Newbern and another sitting in a car in front of a closed business. The officer approached the vehicle and saw the driver place something under the seat, according to the police report. When asked to exit the vehicle the officer allegedly saw Newbern place a baggie into his pocket. The officers found the baggie which contained white powder, later tested positive for cocaine. Four grams of cocaine was found as well as a digital scale. Bond was set at $10,000.

DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

A back parking lot garage was damaged with spray paint at 826 E. Old Willow Road on May 10.

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY

A witness reported seeing a man in all black banging on her boyfriend's vehicle's passenger side window with a blunt object at 860 E. Old Willow Rd. She awoke to the car alarm around 2:05 a.m. May 14. The men fled in a black Dodge Durango and no entrance was made.

THEFT

REPORTED

A license plate registration sticker was stolen from a 1996 Fore van at 612 Piper Lane May 9.
