One Cited In Rob Roy Collision
With the police investigation completed, an 81-year-old male from Prospect Heights was issued a citation last Friday (Nov. 28) for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, dating back to Wednesday, Nov. 19 when two people were struck by a passing vehicle.
According to Dep. Police Chief Eric Lundt, it was determined that Victor Gariti, of the 700 block of Margate Lane, was driving at an excessive speed resulting in two other Prospect Heights residents being transported to Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.
The two victims are Donald Lundell, 79, of the 800 block of Pineforest Lane and Jay Howard, 79, of the 700 block of Burr Oak Lane. All three men live in the Rob Roy subdivision where the accident occurred.
According to hospital officials, as of Tuesday morning, both men remained in the hospital to treat multiple injuries sustained to the head in addition to some broken bones. Lundt said the accident is not likely to be fatal. He also added that Gariti could be fined a maximum of $500, depending on the judge's decision.
