Dist. 23 Presents Annual Tech Showcase Today

The community is invited to attend the annual Technology Integration Project Showcase scheduled for today (Wednesday) from 3 to 4 p.m. and 6:30 to 7 p.m. in the MacArthur Middle School Library, 700 N. Schoenbeck Rd. in Prospect Heights.

The showcase features examples of engaged learning units that incorporate the use of technology, Illinois Learning Standards, and National Education Technology Standards.

The showcase night is also a culmination for teachers who have completed a graduate level course based on North Central Regional Educational Laboratory's Plugging In: Choosing and Using Education Technology.

The course is designed to increase teacher effectiveness and improve student achievement using various educational technologies. Teachers learned to create lessons and units focusing on student-centered classrooms and constructivist learning theory.

Teachers and students from grades K-8 will be on hand to present videos, blogs, podcasts, slide shows, and musical lessons; answer questions; and provide information about how they learn with the assistance of technology.
