Virginia Mae Borgardt

Of Rolling Meadows

Virginia Mae Borgardt, 90, of Rolling Meadows died May 24 at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Hts. Born Apr. 5, 1919, in Chicago, she worked for Kemper Insurance as a secretary and drove a bus for Clearbrook for many years. She was the wife of the late Fred; mother of Sondra Bozin, Bryon (Lisa) Borgardt, Jill (Matthew) McFall and Wendy (Bill) Van Antwerp; grandmother of John (Melissa), Timothy and Matthew McFall, Jessica and Colin Van Antwerp, Bryn and Brayden Borgardt. Funeral service was held Saturday, May 30 at Community Church of Rolling Meadows. Interment was at St. John Cemetery in Arlington Hts. Meadows Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Richard L. Braunsdorf

Mt. Prospect teacher

A memorial mass for Richard L. Braunsdorf, 61, a former long-time teacher at Lincoln Junior High School in Mt. Prospect, was celebrated June 20 in St. Raymond de Penafort Church, Mt. Prospect. Interment was private. Arrangements were made by the Cremation Society of Illinois. He died June 8. After teaching at Lincoln, he was recently employed at the University of St. Mary of the Lake Seminary in Mundelein. Surviving are his widow, Wendy; children Eric, Marni (Wayne) Beals, Kevin and Heidi; and grandson Noah.

Lottie A. Formell

Formerly Of Arlington Hts.

A funeral Mass for Lottie A. Formell, of Arlington Hts, was held Monday, June 15 at St. Edna Catholic Church in Arlington Hts. Interment was at St. Adalbert Cemetery, Niles. She was born on July 7, 1920 in Kansas City, Kansas, and died on June 11 at her home in Lowell, Ind. She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Arthur E. Formell. Survivors include her children, Christine H. (William) LaFleur, Arthur A. (Mary) Formell, Jeffrey J. (Patricia) Formell and Charlene A. Sobieski; her grandchildren, Bill, Shawn, Ryan, Garrett, Elizabeth, Michael, Kristin, Kelly, Keith, Renee and 18 great grandchildren.

James R. Foss

Of Elk Grove Village

James R. Foss, 74, of Elk Grove Village, died on June 11. Mr. Foss retired after 32 years with the Engineering Dept. of Alexian Brothers Medical Center. He was involved for 17 years with "Toys for Joy." He was the husband of Marilyn; father of John R. (fiancée, Lisa), David M. (Jean) and Eileen P. (Ed) Showalter; grandfather of Michael J. (Shannon), David N., Meghan E. and Kelly P. and great-grandfather of Hailey M.; uncle of many. Funeral services were held Saturday, June 20, from Oaks Funeral Home in Itasca to Saint Julian Eymard Church for Mass. Interment was at Saint Michael the Archangel Cemetery.

Michael A. Ganatos

Of Rolling Meadows

Michael A. Ganatos, 82, of Rolling Meadows, died May 18 in his home. Mr. Ganatos was born Nov. 26, 1926, in Chicago. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the Army and had worked as an electrician for Local 134 IBEW for many years. Funeral service was held May 21 from Meadows Funeral Home in Rolling Meadows to St. Colette Church. Interment was at Rosehill Cemetery, Chicago. He was the husband of Elaine and the late Thelma and Rosemary Ganatos. Father of Maryann (Steve) Moffet, Michaela (Joseph) Ingallinera, Daniel (Kristy), Cheryl (Domenic) Gallo, Timothy (Sherrie), Andrew (Julia), Helen (Robert) Gates, Irene (Matthew) Simeon, David (Bonnie) Schoaff, Susann (Brendan) Mendenhall, Michael, Mark and the late Christine Nechoda; 35 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.

Robert J. Henry

Of Rolling Meadows

Robert J. Henry, 90, of Rolling Meadows, died May 24, at Manorcare of Arlington Hts. He was born Aug. 20, 1918, in La Crosse, Wisc., and was the owner of Bob Henry Dodge in Forest Park. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was the husband of the late Catherine; father of Judith Anderson, James (Margaret), Laurel Kennedy and William (Donna) Henry; grandfather of Matthew Anderson, Rebecca (Vince) Leona, Justin (Heather) Anderson, Kaitlin, Colleen Henry, Jeremy Bryant and Justin McKinney; great grandfather of Anthony and Juliana Leone, Sydney Anderson and Nick Vaughan. Funeral Mass was Friday, May 29 at St. Cecilia's Church in Mt. Prospect. Meadows Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Kathleen Mary Holdridge

Of Palatine

Kathleen Mary Holdridge, 64, of Palatine, died Tuesday, June 9, in her home surrounded by family. A Mass was celebrated on Saturday, June 13 at St. Marceline Catholic Church, Schaumburg. Interment will be in St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Palatine. Michaels Funeral Home in Schaumburg handled funeral arrangements. Mrs. Holdridge was born Oct. 25, 1944, in Chicago. She was the wife of Charles; mother of Carla Landi, Dana (Chris) Mays, Leslie (Jeff) Allenspach, the late Laurie Ann and the late Mary Catherine; sister of Marlene Foley and Patricia (Raymond) Polka; grandmother to Joe and Kristen Landi and Haley and Leah Allenspach.

Una R. Lennon

Of Palatine

Una R. Lennon, 78, of Palatine, died on Apr. 10. She was born Nov. 25, 1930. She was a two-time breast cancer survivor. She is survived by her husband, Charles Wesley Lennon; son, Cory Todd (Marcia) Lennon and daughter, Tracie Renee Lennon. A memorial service and luncheon was held on May 3 at an Arlington Hts. restaurant.

Matthew Edward Lewnard

Of Mt. Prospect

Children's services for Matthew Edward Lewnard, 8, were held on June 9 at St. Raymond's Church in Mt. Prospect. Rev. Bernie Pietrzak and Brother James Lewnard officiated. Interment was in All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines. Matthew died of an unexpected illness. He was born May 16, 2001, in Arlington Hts., the son of Terence and Candace Lewnard. He died June 4 at Northwest Community Hospital. Matthew played on a Mt. Prospect Little League team, the Angels. He was a Cub Scout, and an avid swimmer. Including his parents, he is survived by his brother, Michael Allen; grandmother Patricia Jaglowski; grandfather, Allen (Gloria Gigele) Jaglowski; his great-grandmother, three uncles, great-uncles, great-aunts and several cousins.

Margaret MacCartie-Murphy

Des Plaines fitness center owner

Margaret MacCartie-Murphy of Des Plaines died on Saturday, June 13 with her family and partner Jimmy at her side. Diagnosed with colon cancer in 2004, she faced the news with great courage and called it "her journey". Margaret or "Margie", as she was known to family and some friends, was 51-years-old. She was a certified personal trainer who ran her own fitness center in Des Plaines. She loved to travel and visited many places around the world. Margaret was the youngest of six children born on May 13, 1958 in Indianapolis, Ind., to Thaddeus R. MacCartie, Jr., and Mary "Liz" MacCartie (nee Samuels). She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Timothy Murphy. She was the mother of five children: Jacqueline, Timothy, Michael, John and Kathryn. A memorial gathering of family and friends was held on Friday June 19 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Des Plaines.

Elsie A. Madsen

Of Arlington Hts.

Elsie A. Madsen, 101, of Arlington Hts., died June 17 at the Lutheran Home in Arlington Hts. She was born Oct. 5, 1907 in Chicago. Mrs. Madsen was the wife of the late Martin; mother of Ruth (Werner) Heidtke and Doris (Charles) Brunke; grandmother of David (Michaline) Heidtke, Karen (Mike) Metzel, Tom (Gail) Heidtke, Andy (Deborah) Heidtke, Ronald (Susan) Brunke, Barbara (Robert) Hausheer and Janet (Ronald) Moravec and the late Charles Brunke. She was the great grandmother of 13 and the late Tammy Duncan and great-great grandmother of many. Funeral service was Saturday, June 20, at Meadows Funeral Home in Rolling Meadows with interment at Concordia Cemetery, Forest Park.

Ann Jane Michalesko

Of Arlington Hts.

Ann Jane Michalesko, 83, died on Saturday, May 30 at the Lutheran Home in Arlington Hts. She was born in McGhee, Arkansas, on Nov. 4, 1925. She was a member of the Cadet Nurse Corps. She is survived by her children, Kathy (William) Udell, Martha (Robert) Hilchey, Barbara (Bradley) Johnson, Theresa (Vincent) Hart, Kenneth (Barbara) Michalesko, Frank (Jennifer) Michalesko; her grandchildren and sister.

Florence M. Moseid

Of Elk Grove Village

A funeral service for Florence M. Moseid, 86, was held on Friday, May 22, at Grove Memorial Chapel in Elk Grove Village. Entombment was in Memory Gardens Mausoleum. Ms. Moseid was born in Rome, Italy, and died Saturday, May 16, at Manor Care of Elk Grove Village. She was the mother of Gary A. Moseid and Gerald P. (Rebecca) DeGracio, and the late Janet Hensley; grandmother of Lisa Arellano, and Julie and Joshua Bublitz; and sister of Augie (Irene) Iacucci.

Mary Jean O'Leary

50-Year resident Of Prospect Hts.

Mary Jean O'Leary (nee Schackmuth) died on June 14 in her home.  Mrs. O'Leary was the wife of Martin Gerald O'Leary for 60 years. She was a registered nurse and volunteer at St. Joseph's Home. She is survived by her husband; her children, Mary Celine O'Leary, Kathy (Jim) Powell, Vince (Judy) O'Leary, Beth (Bill) Thompson, Carol (John) Ehrhardt, Sheila (Tom) Weaver, and Michael (Satomi) O'Leary; 21 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, her sister Betty Bretz; brother, Jerry Schackmuth and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass was on Thursday, June 18 at St. Alphonsus Church in Prospect Hts. Interment was in St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery.

Leonard T. Pobuta

Of Elk Grove Village

A memorial Mass for Leonard T. Pobuta, 77, was celebrated on Friday, June 19, at St. Paul the Apostle Church in Gurnee. Mr. Pobuta was known in Elk Grove Village for his years of dedicated service to the Elk Grove Lions Club. He died on Sunday, June 14. He was the husband of the late Jean; stepfather of John (Jeanne) Paskvan; grandfather of Corey and Chelsea; brother of Stanley (Jean), the late Marcela (George) Jaszurski, the late Theresa (Tony) Blaszczyk, the late Helen (the late Joe) Opalka and the late Bernice (the late Frank) Hess; uncle of many nieces and nephews. Arrangements were made by Cremation Society of Illinois.

Rose Catherine Pula

Of Rolling Meadows

Rose Catherine Pula, 90, of Rolling Meadows, died June 12, at her home. She was born Jan. 20, 1919 in Chicago. Mrs. Pula was the wife of the late Stanley; mother of Rosemarie (Ray Orsi) Motyka and Sheila (Michael) Moody; grandmother of Kevin Moody, Steve and Kristin (Thomas Hinton) Motyka; great grandmother of Jonah and Piper Motyka. A Mass was held on Tuesday, June 16 at St. Theresa Church. Interment was at St. Adalbert Cemetery in Niles.

Gary E. Reeves

Of Elk Grove Village

Gary E. Reeves, 78, of Elk Grove Village, died on Monday, May 25 at Alexian Brothers Medical Center. Mr. Reeves was born in Chicago and was an Army veteran.  Funeral services were Thursday, May 28 at St. John Vianny Church in Northlake.  He was the husband of Pauline; father of Susan M. (Sam) Stensgard, David E. (Carolyn) Reeves, grandmother of Cale.

Cynthia K. Schleich

Of Buffalo Grove

Cynthia K. Schleich, 53, of Buffalo Grove, passed away suddenly on Saturday, June 6 in her home.  She was born May 1, 1956 in Freeport, Ill. She was an active member of the Auxiliary of Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, served on Special Olympics committees and was active with Almost Home Foundation. She is survived by her husband, David; daughter, Amanda; sister, Susan Harms (Deb Pearson). Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 13 at Long Grove Community Church.

Mary Ann Sittinger

Of Park Ridge

Mary Ann Sittinger, (nee O'Mara) 75, of Park Ridge, died on June 9. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert C. She is survived by her children, Richard (Cheryl), Michael (Sheila), Mary (Timothy) Schaefer, Thomas (Crystal), Ann (Chris) Demange, Ellen Sittinger and Karen Gibbons; grandmother of Peter, Keenan, Colleen, Brian, Brandon, Meghan, Sam, Kevin, Sean, Rebecca, Jack, Elizabeth, Andrew, Joseph, Sarah, Alex, Isabelle and the late James; sister of Suzanne Osetek and Joan Kustak and the late Patrick O'Mara and the late Ellen O'Mara. Funeral service was Friday, June 12, from Ryan-Parke Funeral Home in Park Ridge to St. Paul of the Cross Church for Mass. Interment was at All Saints Cemetery.

Catherine J. Soderholm

Of Arlington Hts.

Catherine J. Soderholm (nee McCafferty), 49, was born on Aug. 6, 1959 in Chicago. She died June 12 in her home in Arlington Hts. She was employed by Sargeant & Lundy for 33 years. Mrs. Soderholm is survived by her husband of 27 years, Robert L. Soderholm; her parents; her siblings, Don McCafferty, MaryBeth (Dan) Lisek, Sean (Angela) McCafferty; her nieces and nephews. Memorial Mass was on Wednesday, June 17 at St. James Church in Arlington Hts.

Joseph J. Stanaszek

Of Mt. Prospect

Joseph J. Stanaszek, of Mt. Prospect, died on June 2. He was the husband of Dolores; father of James J., Janice (Michael) Flynn and Jeffrey (Denise); grandfather of Maureen, Erin, Mark, Matthew, Michael, Savannah, Joshua and Katherine; brother of Stella Soltys and Bernie Gomolka; uncle of many nieces and nephews. Mr. Stanaszek was a retired Colonel with the 83d Infantry Division, 322d Field Artillery. In addition, after 26 years in real estate sales and banking, he retired as assistant vice president and manager of Bell Federal Savings and Loan. Matz Funeral Home in Mt. Prospect handled arrangements.

Richard E. Stocker

A memorial service for Richard E. Stocker, 83, of Palatine, was held on Wednesday, May 20 at Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home in Palatine. He was born Oct. 14, 1925, in Oak Park and died Saturday, May 16, in Arlington Hts. Interment was at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Arlington Hts. Survivors include his son, Richard C. (Linda) Stocker; grandchildren, Keith Stocker, Craig Stocker, Christine Stocker and Brett Stocker; siblings, Betty, Shirley and Donald; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances; his parents and eight brothers and sisters.

Frank H. Tredore

Of Des Plaines

Frank H. Tredore, 81, of Des Plaines, died on June 15. He was born Apr. 14, 1928 in Chicago. He was the husband of Marilyn; brother of Agnes (Jack) Thelin; uncle of Sharon (Guy) Schoo, Thomas Thelin, Bob (Eileen) Thelin, James Thelin, Robert (Marissa) Pactwa, Dr. Therese Pactwa, David Pactwa, Karen (Chris) Nowland and Mark Pactwa and grand uncle to many. Funeral Mass was Friday, June 19, at St. Raymond Church in Mt. Prospect. Interment was at All Saints Cemetery.

Mary C. Welch

Of Elk Grove Village

A funeral Mass for Mary C. Welch, (nee McCummiskey) was celebrated on Tuesday, June 16, at St. Julian Eymard Catholic Church. Born in Chicago, she was an employee of the Village of Elk Grove for 26 years. She was the wife of the late Robert T.; mother of Michael Welch; sister of Joan McCummiskey; and the late William and Patricia McCummiskey. Grove Memorial Chapel in Elk Grove Village handled arrangements.

Sabina U. Ziemba

Of Elk Grove Village

Sabina U. Ziemba, 86, a 20-year resident of Elk Grove Village, died on June 9. She was born in Poland and was the wife of the late Stanley J. Ziemba; mother of Sabina Burge, and Eva (Peter G.) Veverka; grandmother of Joseph and Anna Veverka and great grandmother of Madison Veverka.  Funeral arrangements were made by Grove Memorial Chapel in Elk Grove Village. Services were private.

Arthur C. Zimmerman

Of Des Plaines

Arthur C. Zimmerman, 66, of Des Plaines, died on June 14 in Melrose Park. He was born on May 6, 1943 in Des Plaines. He graduated from Maine West High School, was a Vietnam veteran and 29-year employee of Quill Corp. Visitation is Wednesday, June 24, from 3 to 9 p.m., at Oehler Funeral Home in Des Plaines. His funeral service will be Thursday, June 25, at 11 a.m., at Oehler Chapel with burial at Memory Gardens.  He was the brother of Linda (Marcelo) Atristain, Stanley, Marilyn and Ronald Zimmerman; uncle of Tony (Elaine) and Mike (Susan) Atristain; great-uncle of Rachel, Matt, Paxton and Mara.
