Sylvia F. Banas

Of Des Plaines

Sylvia F. Banas, 90, of Des Plaines, died on Saturday, June 6, at Ballard Nursing Home. She was born Oct. 3, 1918, in Chicago.  A funeral service was held at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 10 and Our Lady of Ransom Church in Niles with interment at St. Adalbert Cemetery. She is survived by her daughter, Pavone (Ronze) Patricia; son, Leonard (Diane Marie) Banas; grandchildren, Irene Marie (Hugh), Ron (Theresa), Robert (Karen) and Jennifer and five great grandchildren.

Barbara A. Behnke

Of Prospect Hts.

Prayers were said for Barbara A. Behnke, 49, of Prospect Hts., on Saturday, June 13, at Matz Funeral Home in Mt. Prospect. A funeral Mass was held at St. Thomas Becket Church in Mt. Prospect. Ms. Behnke was a customer service assistant supervisor for Owens & Minor in Wheeling and worked part time for the Prospect Hts. Public Library. She died on June 9. She was the mother of Casey J. Behnke; daughter of Richard and Arlene Behnke; sister of Tom (Laura), Lorraine (Rick) Aubrey, Mike (Pam), Richard (Judy), Amy (Michael) Joyce, Joe, Cathy (John) Kapp, Jill (Nate) Heins and the late Raymond; and aunt of many nieces and nephews.

George E. Bethel

Of Palatine

George E. Bethel, of Palatine, and died June 5 at the Rainbow Hospice Ark in Park Ridge. Born on Mar. 3, 1937 in Lebanon, Missouri, his career allowed him to work in varied fields and required frequent travel. He enjoyed traveling, photography and scrapbooking during retirement. He is survived by his wife, Patricia R; his children, Tresie (Mark) Curcio and Col. Scott (Laura) Bethel; his grandchildren, Blaine, Griffin, Addie, James, Joy and Josiah. Prayers were said Wednesday, June 10 at Glueckert Funeral Home and St. James Church in Arlington Hts. where Mass took place. Mr. Bethel was buried at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery.

Herbert G. Buchholz

Of Mt. Prospect

Funeral services for Herbert G. Buchholz, 82, of Round Lake Park, formerly of Mt. Prospect, took place Thursday, June 11 at Friedrichs Funeral Home in Mt. Prospect. Interment was in Maryhill Cemetery. Mr. Buchholz was born Sept. 27, 1926, in Chicago, and died Sunday, June 7. He was the husband of Helen (nee Bertram); father of Jan (Neal) Bradley, Dale (Margie) and Jim (Pam) Buchholz; grandfather of Kaitlyn, Derek, Izzy, Natalie, Marlee and Sam; brother of Don (Sandy) Buchholz and uncle of Mary (Mike), Brian (Jill), Kevin, Theo and Nathan.

Lloyd A. Carlstrom

Of Des Plaines

Funeral services for Lloyd A. Carlstrom, Sr., 75, a 50-year resident of Des Plaines, were held Friday, June 12, at the Oehler Funeral Home in Des Plaines. Burial was in All Saints Cemetery. He was born July 24, 1933, in Chicago. Mr. Carlstrom was a retired bricklayer and a Navy veteran of the Korean War. He died on June 8 in Northbrook. He was the husband of the late Victoria; father of Lloyd Carlstrom, Jr., Debra (Bruce) Thomas and James Carlstrom; grandfather of Lloyd III, Courtney, Hope and Christian Carlstrom, and Ryan and Alycia Thomas.

Robert Dompke

Of Arlington Hts.

Robert Dompke, 72, of Arlington Hts., died on May 15. He was the husband of Barbara; father of Timothy Dompke and Steven (Jennifer) Dompke; grandfather of Abigayle, Peter, Dakota, Lauren, Kristina and Natalie; brother of the late Ronald (Judith) Dompke; and uncle to many nieces and nephews. Prayers were said on May 20 at Glueckert Funeral Home and at St. James Church, both in Arlington Hts. Interment was in All Saints Cemetery.

Edward T. Firek

Of Buffalo Grove

A funeral for Edward T. Firek, 84, of Buffalo Grove, began with prayers on Monday, June 15 at Matz Funeral Home, in Mt. Prospect. A funeral Mass was held at St. Mary Church in Buffalo Grove. Interment was in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Arlington Hts. He was born March 9, 1925, in Chicago, and died Wednesday, June 10, in Arlington Hts.Mr. Firek was a retired painter and a Navy veteran of World War II. He was the husband of the late Dolores; father of Gary (Gina), Gail (Kirk) Herrig, Bruce (Susan), James (Mary) and Joyce (Chuck) Scott; grandfather of 14; great-grandfather of five, and brother of Alfred (Katie).

Carol E. Hafencher

Of Park Ridge

Carol E. Hafencher, 57, of Park Ridge, died on Monday, June 8 at Alden Northmoor. Mrs. Hafencher was born Apr. 9, 1952 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She was a registered nurse. A memorial service took place Friday, June 12 at Park Ridge Presbyterian Church. Skaja Terrace Funeral Home handled the arrangements. Mrs. Hafencher is survived by her husband, Louis; her parents, Clyde and Bernice; son, Karl Hafencher; sisters Allyn (Tom) Kula and Kimberly (Randy) Syme and brothers Michael (Karen) Eriksen and Jim (Ana) Eriksen.

Jacqueline Theresa Higgins

Of Arlington Hts.

Jacqueline Theresa Higgins died June 8 at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Hts. Mrs. Higgins was born Nov. 16, 1928 in Chicago to Joseph and Pearl Kurzer. She enjoyed spending time with her family, teaching English as a Second Language and volunteering for a variety of community organizations. She is survived by her husband, Richard D. Higgins, and by her children, Mary Ann (Robert) Ogilvie, Monica Kallas, Maureen Schorsch, Kathy (Neil) Schorsch and Martin (Twila) Schorsch; her stepchildren, 23 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and by her siblings. Funeral services took place Thursday, June 11 at Glueckert Funeral Home, Ltd., in Arlington Hts. Interment was private.

John S. Horsley

Of Elk Grove Village

John S. Horsley, 81, of Elk Grove Village, died on June 3. He was an Army veteran.  He is survived by his wife, Kae; children, Andrea K., John P. (Kathy) Horsley, Karen L. (James) Fidler; his grandchild, Kristen F. Fidler and brother Robert (Mary) Horsley. Visition took place Monday, June 8.

Paul Eugene Icenogle

Of Palatine

Paul Eugene Icenogle, 66, of Palatine, died June 8 in his home. He was born Feb. 27, 1943 in Macomb, Illinois, and was a graduate of Western Illinois University. He taught at Conant High School for 25 years and was a veteran of the Air Force. He and his wife owned a garden and craft store. Mr. Icenogle is survived by his wife, Jo Ann; siblings, Robert (Twilia) Icenogle, Carol (Richard) Ashbacher; Roger (Judy) and Alan (Karen); and by many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Saturday, June 13 at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Manhattan, Illinois. Interment at Wilton Center Cemetery Wilton Twp., Illinois.

Aaron Joseph Johanson

Of Arlington Hts.

Funeral services for Aaron Joseph Johanson, 18, of Arlington Hts., took place Sunday, June 14 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Palatine. Interment was private. He was born Sept. 5, 1990 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the son of John S. and Lisa Johanson. He was the brother of Kyle E. and Sonja E. Johanson; grandson of Lorraine and the late Ralph Bellucci and Amy and the late Otto Ragnar Johanson.

Gordon R. Koch

Of Arlington Hts.

Gordon R. Koch, 60, of Arlington Hts., died on May 16. He was the son of Raymond C. and Beatrice J. Koch; brother of the late Gregory (Johnnie) Koch; nephew and cousin of many. A funeral service was held Wednesday, May 20 at Glueckert Funeral Home in Arlington Hts. Interment was at Ridgewood Cemetery.

Irma T. Madden

Of Arlington Hts.

Irma T. Madden died June 7 at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Hts. A memorial service was held Wednesday, June 10 at St. John's Chapel, in the Lutheran Home, Arlington Hts. Interment was private. Born March 14, 1920 in Evanston to Henry and Helen Thoms, Mrs. Madden is survived by her nieces and nephews Kathy Kettman, Candy Dokey, Casey Dokey, Curtis Thoms, Mona Thoms, Scott Thoms and Lisa Paulson and Steven Madden. She is also survived by her nephews R. Scott Thoms, Brian Thoms and Barry Thoms. She is preceded in death by her first husband Sonny Cosentino and her second husband, James Henry Madden.

Joy L. Mullen

Of Elk Grove Village

Funeral services for Joy L. Mullen (nee Morris), 73, were held Friday, June 12 at Grove Memorial Chapel. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Barrington. Mullen was born in Chicago and for 34 years was a teacher in Elk Grove Twp. Elementary School District 59. She was the wife of George E; mother of Kimberlee Brooks, Kathy (Steven) Johnson, Karyn Mullen and Kristy (Tony) Wright; grandmother of Troy, Tracia and Jenna Johnson, Ashley, Tara, Caitlin and Garrett Brooks and Austin, Aaron and Alyssa Wright.

Richard E. Nagler

Formerly of Des Plaines

Richard E. Nagler, 72, of South Elgin, formerly of Des Plaines, died on Friday, June 5, in Des Plaines. He was born Apr. 5, 1937 in Chicago and was a veteran of the Army. Services were held on Tuesday, June 9, at Countryside Funeral Home & Crematory in Bartlett, and proceeded to St. Thomas More Church for Mass. Interment was in St. Michael Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Pearl; his children Linda (Al) Headley, Debbie (Mike) Duffy and Ken (Heather) and his grandchildren Taylor, Bridget, Ethan, Kaitlyn and Ethan.

Iola A. Oberg

Of Park Ridge

Iola A. Oberg, 82, of Park Ridge, died on June 7. She was the wife of the late Herbert; mother of Kenneth (Margaret) and Linda (John) Aseltine; grandmother of Ryan, David and Heather Aseltine, Jason and Christine Oberg; sister of the late Herb Anderson, Alice Merrill and Bea Holz. A funeral service was held Thursday, June 11 at Nelson Funeral Home in Park Ridge. Interment was at Ridgewood Cemetery.

Helen B. O'Boyle

A funeral Mass for Helen B. O'Boyle (nee Bachmeier), 74, was held on Friday, June 12, at St. Raymond de Penafort Church in Mt. Prospect. Interment was in All Saints Cemetery. Mrs. O'Boyle was born Apr. 18, 1935, in Emmons County, North Dakota. She died Sunday, June 7, in her home. She was the wife of the late Robert O'Boyle; mother of Suzanne O'Boyle, Caroline O'Boyle, Maureen (Trent Buterbaugh) O'Boyle, John (Linda) O'Boyle, Patrick (Carrie) O'Boyle and Michael (Dianna) O'Boyle; grandmother of Sam, Will, Grace, Quinn, Kate, Finn, Cormac, Nathan and Jaclyn; sister of Melvin (Yen) Bachmeier and Katherine (Bruce) Robb.

William R. Richards

Of Mt. Prospect

Funeral services for William R. Richards, 91, of Mt. Prospect, were held Tuesday, June 9, at Friedrichs Funeral Home in Mt. Prospect. He was born Feb. 21, 1918, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and died Friday, June 5. Mr. Richards was the husband of June; brother of Esther (Carmen) Rummo and Donald M. (Diane) Richards.

Czeslaw Szymanski

Of Wheeling

Czeslaw "Chester" Szymanski, 91, of Wheeling died on Wednesday, June 3. Mr. Szymanski was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Polish Army Division, which was integral in the victory of Monte Cassino, Italy, over the Nazis. He is survived by his wife, Agnieszka "Agnes" Szymanski; children, Krystyna (Nicholas) Tischer, Teresa (Michael) Cloney and Maria Hennig. He was a grandfather to 8 and great-grandfather of 10. Funeral prayers were said on Friday, June 5 at Kolssak Funeral Home in Wheeling and a Mass of Christian Burial took place St. Joseph the Worker Church. Interment was at Maryhill Cemetery.

Mabel M. Thoresen

Formerly of Wheeling

Mabel M. Thoresen (nee Nasiatka), 86, of Lake Bluff and formerly of Wheeling, died Sunday, June 7. She was the wife of the late John Thoresen; mother of Ann (Ames) Mathee and Connie (Lawrence) Oberg; grand mother of Julia, Alexander John, Tammy (Rey), Cindy; great grandmother of Sierra and Alex; sister of John (Joan) Nasiatka; aunt of Jason (Kazu) and Jim Nasiatka. Funeral prayers were said Wednesday, June 10 at Kolssak Funeral Home in Wheeling. Interment at All Saints Cemetery.

Anthony J. Tinghino

Anthony J. Tinghino, 81, of Schaumburg, formerly of Park Ridge, died on June 4 in Friendship Village, where he was residing. He was the husband of the late Virginia M.; father of Karl (Carol), Joan (Jerry) Grippo, Mark (Carol), Lynn Schraw, Karen McLauchlan and Nancy; grandfather of seven; brother of Gloria Jean (Ray) Brzny. He is also survived by his nieces, nephews and longtime companion Lorrainne Beutelspacher. A funeral service took place Monday, June 8 at Ryan-Parke Funeral Home in Park Ridge. Interment was private.

Annamae K. White

Of Elk Grove Village

Annamae K. White, 88, of Elk Grove Village, died on June 3. A funeral service was held on Monday, June 8 at St. Julian Eymard. Interment was in Mt. Carmel Catholic Cemetery. She was the wife of Thomas S. White for 63 years; mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister.
