Adele V. Anderson
Of Rosemont
A funeral service for Adele V. Anderson, 89, of Rosemont, was held at Our Lady of Hope Church in Rosemont on Thursday, May 28. Interment was held privately at All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines. Born Feb. 2, 1920, in Chicago she died May 26 at Alden Healthcare Center in Des Plaines. She is survived by her daughter, Donna (Sonny) Fisher; grandchildren, Jennifer (Ted) Chropkowski, Todd (Jill) Fisher, Carrie (Brett) Ratajczak; great grandchildren, her sister, Elsie Lux, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley "Babe" Anderson.
Jay Walter Bennett
Born in Arlington Hts.
Jay Walter Bennett, 45, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, May 24, 2009, where he was currently residing in his favorite "small town USA," Urbana, with his loving partner, Kate, and their feline friend, Jimmy.
Private burial will be held at a later date.
Later this summer, Jay's multi-talented friends will be hosting a Memorial Concert in Urbana.
Jay was born November 15, 1963, in Arlington Hts., a beloved son of John W. and Janis M. (Olson) Bennett.
Survivors include his parents, of Green Valley, Arizona; a brother, Jeff (Ellen), and nieces and nephews, Hope, Blair, Luke, and Owen, all of Solon, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Jay was a talented multi-instrumentalist and a fixture in the local music scene in both Chicago and Champaign-Urbana for many years. In addition to his solo work, Jay recorded and produced music for other artists and performed with several popular bands, most notably spending seven years and recording five albums with Wilco, earning multiple gold records and two Grammy nominations.
Jay participated in the mentoring program at Chicago's Columbia College. He was a member of the musicians' union and published works through ASCAP. He was a member of the Methodist faith.
Contributions may be made to Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation in Jay's memory (www.mhopus.org). Founded in 1996, The Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation donates new and refurbished musical instruments to underserved schools, community music programs and individual students nationwide, in an effort to give youngsters the many benefits of music education, help them to be better students and inspire creativity and expression through playing music.

A funeral Mass for Peter R. Bohm, 74, of Elk Grove Village, was held Tuesday, June 2 at the Julian Eymard Catholic Church with interment following at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery. Bohm passed away in his Elk Grove Village home on Friday, May 29. He lived in Elk Grove Village for 41 years. A veteran of the Korean War, Bohm served with the Army Corps of Engineers. Beloved husband of the late Betty J., Bohm is survived by his children Bradfield (Heide), John (Beth), Hunter and Phil Bohm and 11 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years Bette J. Bohm who passed away in 2003. Funeral arrangements were made through Grove Memorial Chapel.
Harriet Ann Brokenshire

Harriet Ann Brokenshire, 89, of Niles died on Monday, Apr. 27 at St. Matthew Center for Health. She was born Oct. 13, 1919 in Chicago. Before retirement she was an electronics inventory control specialist. Funeral services were held at St. John Brebeuf Church on Friday, May 1. Burial was at All Saints Cemetery. Skaja Terrace Funeral Home handled arrangements. Mrs. Brokenshire is survived by her daughters, Joanne Gresik, Judy (Bill) Schmidt; her grandchildren, great grandchildren and brother-in-law.
Lorraine B. Bumgardner
Longtime Resident of Elk Grove Village
Services for Lorraine B. Bumgardner, 92, of Elk Grove Village, were held Thursday, May 14, at Christus Victor Lutheran Church in Elk Grove Village. Interment was in Oakridge Cemetery, Hillside. Severino's Riverwoods Funeral Chapels in Des Plaines handled arrangements. She was the wife of the late Hubert P. Bumgardner; mother of Hubert A. (Sandra), Mark (Mary Kay) and the late Terrance (Terri); grandmother of seven; great-grandmother of three.
Patricia H. DeGand
Of Rosemont
Patricia H. DeGand, 70, of Rosemont, passed away on Friday, May 22 at Resurrection Care Center in Park Ridge. She was born in Chicago on June 10, 1938 to the late Jack and Mary Burns. She received a Congressional Record for her work with Operation Red, White and Blue in support of Operation Desert Storm. Mrs. DeGand lived in Manefield, Ohio, and Ft. Myers, Pa., before moving back to Rosemont four years ago. She is survived by her sons Salvatore, Dennis (Maureen) and Patrick Genualdi and Robert (Beth) DeGand. She is also survived by her brother, Ron Burns, nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services were held Friday, May 29, at Riverwoods Funeral Chapels in Des Plaines. Interment was private.
John T. "Jack" Hake

John T. "Jack" Hake, 81, a 50-year Palatine resident, died Apr. 24 in his home surrounded by his family. Mr. Hake was the loving husband of Sally for 59 years and proud father of five sons and daughters-in-law, 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He served in the U.S. Army and was a salesman working as a manufacturer's representative for over 50 years. His funeral service was Apr. 28 at St. Thomas of Villanova Church in Palatine with burial at St. Mary Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Sally and children, Terrence (Catherine), Bill (Jean), Tom (Ann), Brian, and John (Julie) Hake.
Evelyn M. Homa

A funeral Mass for Evelyn M. Homa (nee Romano), 82, took place on Saturday, May 30, at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Des Plaines. Interment was Monday, June 1 at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood. Mrs. Homa was born Aug. 20, 1926, in Chicago. She died on May 27 in Des Plaines. Her husband, Henry J. Homa, preceded her in death. Her children Robert (Julie), Fred (Monika), and Judy (Kevin) Ronan survive her. G.L. Hills Funeral Home in Des Plaines made funeral arrangements.

Eleanor H. Mack, (nee Snopek), 93, of Des Plaines, passed away on Thursday, May 28. She was the wife of the late Henry F. Mack; mother of Marlene Ginter, Barbara (Ron) Justmann, Daniel, and the late Christine (Ken) Kowalski; grandmother of Kathy, Linda, Michael, Bryan, Scott, Janet and Jessica and great grandmother of nine. A prayer service was held at G.L. Hills Funeral Home in Des Plaines on Monday, June 1, followed by a funeral Mass at St. Mary Catholic Church in Des Plaines. Interment was in St. Adalbert Cemetery, Niles.
Leslie W. Milligan

Leslie W. Milligan, 87, of Lewistown, Montana, formerly of Park Ridge, passed away on Thursday, May 7. He spent the majority of his life in Illinois until moving to Montana to be closer to his family. He is survived by his children, Golde Wallingford, Kathleen Pederson and Janice Ehrenkrook. Mr. Milligan was preceded in death by his wife, Isabel, and son, Michael. Service and interment were private. Funeral arrangements were made by Ryan-Parke Funeral Home.
Willard "Bud" Parejko

Willard "Bud" Parejo, 78, of Niles, died on Wednesday, May 27 at Resurrection Medical Center. He was born July 17, 1930 in Chicago. Before retirement he was a salesman and manager for a cemetery. Mr. Parejko was an Army veteran. A funeral service was held at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home on Saturday, May 30. He was buried in Maryhill Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Helen "Mickey" Parejko; children, William Parejko, Barbara (Don) Dahm, Mary (Frank) Muscarello; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild.

Ann Ragnini, (nee Bielarczyk), 86, died on Mar. 6. She was the mother of Mary Ann Pinch and grandmother of Laura Ann (Richard) Nonnweiler. Mrs. Ragnini was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Robert J. Ragnini; her mother, Katherine Trybula; her sister, Janina Bielarczyk; father, John Bielarczyk and her stepfather, Frank Trybula. Interment was at All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines.

John C. Sammons was born Feb. 16, 1932 in Evanston and died May 25, at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Hts. Mr. Sammons is survived by his long-time companion, Jean Bradley; his former wife, Lois Sammons; his children, Cynthia (Eric Schwabe) Sammons, Phillip (Susan) Sammons and Douglas (Kate) Sammons and by his grandchildren Lauren, Benjamin, Kaitlyn, Jennifer, Sean and Faith. A funeral Mass was held on Friday, May 29 at St. Edna Catholic Church in Arlington Hts. Interment was in St. Peter Cemetery, Skokie. Glueckert Funeral Home handled arrangements.

A funeral Mass for Carl S. Stefanik, 90, took place on Friday, May 29, at St. James Church in Arlington Hts. Interment was private. Mr. Stefanik was born on Sept. 12, 1918, in Manitowoc, Wis. He died May 27, 2009, at Northwest Community Healthcare Center in Arlington Hts. Vlasta (nee Filip), his wife of 61 years, and his children Carl (Joanne) Stefanik, Thomas Stefanik, and Donald Stefanik survive him. Glueckert Funeral Home in Arlington Hts. made funeral arrangements.
Delores K. Buettner Ward

Delores K. Buettner Ward, 74, of Niles, died on Saturday, May 9 at home. She was born June 25, 1934 in Chicago and was a bookkeeper at a Catholic church. Funeral services were held at Skaja Terrace Funeral Home and St. John Brebeuf Church on Wednesday, May 13. Father Hank Novak conducted the service. She was laid to rest in the All Saints Mausoleum. She is survived by her nephews, Edward (Tammi) Buettner, Jr. and Randy (Donna) Buettner; brother, Edward Buettner, Sr.; friends Henry Novak and Judy Koch.

Marilyn A. Wiese, 84, of Des Plaines, died on May 17 in Des Plaines. She was born Nov. 14, 1924 in Chicago and was a homemaker. Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 20, at Ridgewood Cemetery. Rev. Russell Carlson conducted the service. She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Robert W. Wiese. Mrs. Wiese is survived by her children, Nancy L. (Vincent) Radosta; Susan L. (Dale) Mathias and James R. (Margaret) Wiese; grandfather of Jack (Brittany) Cole and great grandfather of Caroline and June.
